4-Day Plein Air Festival

Join us for this exciting art event. There will be many artists painting at 6 different locations en plein air on April 16th, 2020. Watch as their paintings come together right before your eyes.

Visit the Art Center Morro Bay, located at 835 Main St., Morro Bay to see their current exhibition “Perspectives”. This exhibit explores how perspective gives a three-dimensional feeling to a flat surface.

Joining the gallery in April is “The Painters Group -TPG” exhibiting “Brushstrokes”, a collective of exceptional paintings, featuring works from current TPG and MBAA members throughout the Central Coast.

Also exhibiting is the “Central Coast Sculptors Group” juried exhibition “Occupies Space”, sculpture of varied mediums (inside and outside the gallery).

Internationally acclaimed artist Guido Frick will be giving a 2-day Plein Air Workshop, Still Life and Landscape – April 13 – 14th, 10am-4pm.

The evening of April 16th presents the VIP Party with live music, wine, small bites, live and silent auctions of art created that day. An exciting quick draw competition which is a group of artists that must start and finish their art piece in 2 hours. Cheer on your favorites, sip wine, enjoy the competition and bid on art at a live auction.

Door prize tickets free for all VIP attendees.

Take this time to find and purchase meaningful art, meet the artists and have fun doing it.

What is Plein Air?

Plein Air means leaving the four walls of an indoor studio and painting in the wide-open outdoors. This style of painting was truly made into an art form by the French Impressionists with their desire to paint light and its ever-changing ephemeral qualities. This allowed artists the freedom to paint “en plein air,” which is the French expression for “in the open air.”

Our mission:

To champion art as essential to life and give our community a creative voice.
